Landscape Painting - course details and materials

Two Day Landscape Painting Course in Watercolour

with Michael Cruickshank

The course is constructed for complete beginners or those who are rusty and wish to brush up on techniques.  Watercolour is very good for learning even if you then wish to paint in other mediums.

A maximum of 5 people in the class allows for good individual attention.

Each day will bring delicious home made food in a fabulous setting with competent, encouraging tution and personal help

What is covered:  Firstly you will learn how to stretch watercolour paper. Michael will then break down various aspects of landscape painting into segments and exercises.  Each one will be explained and demonstrated and you will then paint your own.  Mike will cover:-

Picture construction,

Painting skies and clouds

How to create a sense of depth and distance using tone and colour

Foliage and

Reflections in water.

On day 2, you will then paint a whole picture from start to finish.  This gives time to expand, develop and consolidate what you have learnt, so that you can resolve any areas of difficulty.

Timetable:  Please arrive from 9.30am for coffee before a 10.00 start and you will finish at 4.30.

Getting here:  Sat navs might not bring you to our door.  There is a map on the visiting page of our website HERE

Food:  We provide coffee and cake, and lunch and wine.  We want everyone to get the best out of their day so please tell us if there is any food that you cannot eat or don’t like.

Materials: We will provide all materials if you do not have them.  However, it is a good idea to buy your own so you get used to using them and are all set to continue when you get home.  Mike suggests the artist quality Windsor and Newton watercolours in the following colours:-
