Dear Michael and Emma

Thank you for a marvellous day - true escapism for me - I learnt a great deal much more than 2 years at a painting class - it all makes so much more sense.   I hope to come again, will cane a few more chairs (my way of making money) and will look forward to next year.

Best wishes     Sue

Hi there you two,

I am still buzzing from our lovely weekend and am more than a little resentful of having to go to work, as it is getting in the way of playing with paint some more!

Many thanks for a fab weekend. You're a great teacher and you and Mike are both superb hosts. I'm delighted with what I came away with. Well done you!

Dear Emma and Mike

Thank you both so much for giving us all such a great treat, last Thursday.

You were so kind and nurturing and the students really warmed to you both.

It was such fun chatting in your beautiful garden, shooting the "epic" and eating delicious cake. Wow what a day !

We just so appreciated the love and respect you showed our students, who I am sure will never forget their visit to you.

All the way home they were just full of enthusiasm and they said " They treated us like adults, not children" They felt your genuine interest in them . Wonderful.

Thank you both so much.

We look forward to seeing you again -

Had my first visit to your garden today. I took quite a few photos of your lovely flowers but have to say this Rose Chafer absolutely made my day!  I'll post them when I've got a moment. smile emoticon. Thank YOU for being part of the NGS. It's a privilege to visit private gardens that are not usually accessible!

Lovely tea, delicious coffee cake and great company. Always a wonderful relaxed atmosphere looking out on to a gorgeous garden (despite the gloomy weather) and adorable little ducks!

Thanks to you both for the warm welcome to your beautiful home and garden. This has to be one of the best open houses on the Ditchling Art Trail. A lovely pot of tea and a yummy slice of home-made chocolate went down a treat.

Great practical veg patch course at Bradness Gallery in their beautiful garden in the sunshine! Lovely tea, cake and lunch served with a smile throughout the day! Thank you so much Emma, Mike and the very informative Nigel! Worth a visit at any time not only for the paintings but for the ever changing garden, the wonderful cakes and a lot of chat with Emma & Michael.

I forgot where I parked my Car...without even knowing Emma she kindly offered to drive me around till I found it..quickly back to the Gallery for Tea and Cakes..lovely, really enjoyed it and looking forward to coming back x

Dearest Emma & Mike, many, many, thanks for a super two days. Please thank Sarah from me when you next see her. You two are wasted. You need to do art therapy courses as well as the hands on painting courses as the atmosphere you two and your surroundings create is magical.

Had a fabulous weekend at the Bradness Gallery on the Sarah Campbell paint on fabric course. Such an amazing place with a wonderful garden to gather inspiration. Our hosts Emma and Michael were so warm and delivered a constant stream of great food and drinks all weekend. The atmosphere was relaxed and homely, I loved everything about it. Sarah was gracious and attentive all weekend and so helpful to us all - thank you. I learnt so much during the weekend and didn't want to leave. Secretly I wish I could move in.. :) Those Cakes !!!! Thank you for everything - it was amazing. xx

Hi Emma.

I collected the menus today. We are really really pleased with them.  They are really good.

Thank you very much.

Dear Michael and Emma.

Thank you for an absolutely fabulous day today.  It was not only very informative, but most enjoyable and you made us feel like guests in your home instead of 'clients'. I've come home all fired up to finish my picture and then to take my art further.

I do apologise but I think I have left my raincoat behind - it is a murky green and probably on the back of a chair.  If it is ok with you, can I give you a ring when we are able to be down that way and pick it up?  Sorry to be a pain.

Thank you, and very best wishes

Carol

Hi Emma,

Just a note to say how much I enjoyed the course on Thursday.  I have spent most of today in the garden, knocking the borders into shape!

Thank you also for the lovely lunch - such a treat when somebody else has prepared it.

With best wishes,

Linda

Hi Emma,

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and Mike for a fabulous weekend.

I feel inspired this morning, in fact my head has not stopped buzzing with ideas and possibilities! Off to b and q for some lining paper and will go down the "Nesty Route" for a bit and then......who knows!

Thank you again and see you both in May.

Anne

Hi Emma,

A huge thank you to you and Mike for your wonderful hospitality on Sunday. Judy was most informative and all the attendees couldn't have enjoyed it more. The lunch was really tasty,  I loved it all.

In fact I'm still on a high and want to do some homework, look at all the websites we were given along with the seeds I have in stock to ascertain which ones I should pop in the freezer!

It will be good to catch up in May but I will see you on Sunday dressed in my Lycra....

Enjoy the week,

Jane

Hi Emma

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Sunday. The course was informative and it was lovely to meet other gardeners.

But mostly I wanted to say thank you to you and Michael for being so welcoming and all the lovely food, I shall look forward to coming back in May.

Dear Emma

A massive 'thank you' to you and Mike once again for such a relaxing couple of days at Bradness Gallery with Janet.

It was an opportunity to totally switch off and become absorbed in a world made of fabric!  You and Mike are the perfect hosts - we were all made to feel completely at home whilst having our every need catered for.   Beautiful surroundings and delicious food - I think I'll be coming again, in fact I may book in for a fortnight next time!

I have attached the gluten free ginger biscuit recipe - I made it with Doves Farm GF SR flour from Waitrose.  I hope you try them and I'll send you some other tried and tested cake recipes when I dig them out.

Thanks again.

Best wishes to you both.

Hi Michael and Emma

Just a quick line to say how much I enjoyed Tuesday - everything about it. The learning, the banter, the company, the food, the weather.....

When I produce something worthy of viewing by another party I might even send it to you with an email.

I'd like to think I might return one of these days.

Best wishes

Philip

Morning Emma and Mike.

What a great three days, thank you very much for making the time such fun, not to forget Emma's lovely food, an added delight to our stay.

Hopefully I will be able to control my palette now Mike, I could feel your pain when you saw my mess!!

Seriously, you have helped refresh things that have been neglected or probably forgotten over time.  I hope i can go forward now with more clarity, to think rather than rush in without a plan as is usual!

It was also very kind of you to invite Anne and I to pop in to work in your fab garden over the summer,

I think we would both like to do that later on in the season so thank you for being so generous.

I'd better get back to normality I guess which is a pity so will say bye for now!

Love and best wishes to you both

Thank you both so much for a fabulous 3 days of delightful company and delicious food, (my consumption of that very special Victoria Sponge did surprise me!) and of course, and most importantly Mike, your brilliant, enthusiastic and encouraging tuition. I know that I have come away feeling much more confident to start a painting, which I have always found rather daunting, I now have a strategy, a method - so thank you Mike!

Love to you both and we hope to see you soon!

Dear Emma,

Many thanks for a full and stimulating course.  It was so satisfying to focus on something creative and yet practical.

I always seem to have an hour or so of getting stuck but I know that is part of the process of learning. Its like getting tangled in a bramble and then gently concentrating to get disentangled and 'voila' release!

Thank you for your support  and help in that.

I think I left a table top easel behind( covered in paint  but useful),can you hang onto it please and I'll collect it at some point.

Michael's company too  was appreciated and his sunny presence.

The food was delicious and just right for outdoors(or in!) ,it was like being on holiday!

Enjoy the rest of your summer events  and I hope you both have time to get stuck into your own work. Good luck with the wedding,I'm sure it will be a 'happy blast'

See you anon,

Yours Jane xx

Mike and I take great pride and enjoyment in all we do.  Below are some of the thank you letters that we have received for courses, art work, coach trips and general visitors.

Hi Emma,

I just want to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the Janet Bolton course. Although, I think I enjoyed your cake, cooking and hospitality more though!

Are you open this weekend for coffee and cake?

Many thanks

Gemma

Evening Emma,

Well what a wonderful two day course you ve just run for myself and the others. I wanted to drop you a line to say thank you ; you are such a good teacher : facilitator : workshop lead and underpinning it all, such an amazing artist - I learnt so much and have been left so inspired .

I have wanted to find an expression for my inner wish to 'do' art, and thanks to you I feel I ve not only found it, but also moved much closer to allowing myself to maintain my journey down this path.

Utterly shattered today and that's fine - best two days course I ve ever attended - thank you .

Warmest wishes to you and of course Michael .

Hope we can stay in touch .

Hello Emma,

Am coming down to earth after my two wonderful days with you and Michael.   I am still talking about the food, all so delicious, a little bit of Ottolenghi in there? Loved the barley with the veggies and the carrots with the greek yoghurt, and your pastry was just the best.    I have been making Chocolate mousse/Pots for years but yours was by far the loveliest I have ever had, so light and delicious - maybe one day I can get the recipe??

I am very pleased with my first attempt at Abstract but I realise that my next step is to get to grips with my brush strokes and techniques, I promise I will spend time concentrating on that.  I had no idea art could produce such emotions.  I did feel a complete beginner but it has encouraged me to keep going and hopefully develop my own style.

I will get Jeanne Carbonetti’s books next time we come for your fabulous coffee and cake - thank you again for a memorable course.

Much love,

Moya x

Dear Emma

Just to say how much I enjoyed the course and feel sure I will try and do more fabric pictures in future.  I thought Janet was lovely, the right mixture of instruction, encouragement and just joining in, and of course your wonderful food and wine was the icing on the cake. bw Jenny    Jess sends her regards.

Thank you Emma!!  I just opened my computer to write to say thank you for the weekend.  You are both so generous with your advice, enthusiasm, time and passing-on-of-skill, not to mention the sharing of food and garden - thank you SO much.  It was a wonderful weekend!!  I will treasure it in my memory, and hopefully keep going with the painting (now that heat has gone life will become easier again!  Wasn't yesterday the END).

See you soon,

love

Mary

Dear Emma,

thank you so much for all your kindness during my visit at Barcombe, from driving me here and there, to preparing special food for me.

Your house is a haven of peace...coming for a short holiday as I did! I understand all the work involved in keeping your property the way it is, but for occasional visitor it is a joy for the spirit. I felt serene only looking through the window, not to mention how cosy the kitchen was.

You are the perfect host, I enjoyed meeting you and Mike and can only hope that our paths will cross again…maybe in Florence?

With best regards

Blandina

Well - my other lampshades look very uninspiring, so I will have to get to work.

First of all thank you so much for organising such an inspiring course and for keeping us all so well fed & watered But also for your constant encouragement throughout which I really appreciated.

I have been looking around for fabric paints and some are a lot cheaper than others. I would value your opinion on that because I suspect that the cheap ones may not be worth the money & therefore false economy. Also what exactly is the name of the ?? foam board & is that easy to get hold of.

I am looking forward to having a go myself.

Hopefully see you next Friday when I bring my friend for coffee.

Warm regards

Anne

Hi Emma,

I thought you might like to see this - your lovely prints are framed and up in our study. We're thrilled to bits!

And thanks again for Thursday. I've been boring everyone about how amazing bees are!
